The RZ HD3 is a 1-10x24 first focal plane low-powered variable optic (LPVO) intended for shooters that require an optic that can suit their needs for close and far engagements at a moments notice. A collab by Angry Gun x Toxicant, this limited run collaboration offers this versatile optic for those that require a combination of speed and precision, all in a single package. The second iteration of their RZ HD line, the HD3 offers a 1-10 zoom magnification that can be quickly adjusted by turning the magnification dial, optimising the optic for close-quarter use at 1x with minimal parallax, or rapidly adjusted to 10x for precise shooting from afar, with its high resolution clarity at maximum magnification.
As a first focal plane LPVO, the RZ HD3 utilises an etched EBR9 reticule adjusts its reticule size larger at higher magnifications and smaller at lower settings, allowing shooters to easily adapt to their preferred magnification range. The EBR9 reticule features a detailed milradian grid for subtension data, facilitating accurate long-distance shooting, along with a windage tree for making follow-up corrections in both windage and elevation. Additionally, it includes a stadiametric rangefinder for quick and precise range estimation of commonly sized targets, complemented by a red dot focus reticule for swift target reference acquisition at 1x.
Powered by a CR2032, the optic offers 6 levels of dot illumination, improving reticle visibility in low-light conditions where the default etched black reticle may be difficult to discern. The capped turrets are designed to prevent accidental adjustments to windage and elevation, with an adjustment range of 48 MOA at 1/2 MOA per click, ensuring pinpoint accuracy tailored to the shooter?s preferences. Compared to other competitor optics at this level, the RZ HD3 offers a generous eye relief at 91mm, allowing the shooter to comfortably shoot their rifle without craning their neck in order to see the optic. The RZ HD3 is nitrogen-purged to prevent internal fogging, with a sealed housing to resist the elements, making it a durable choice for both competitive and skirmish conditions.
For its optic mount, it comes with the Angry Gun AUS mount and the ROF-90 ACRO mount, a one piece 1.54-inch optics mount designed for variable powered optics with a 34mm diameter tube. Adhering to a REP AUS aesthetic, this mount boasts a sleek and streamlined design that reduces snagging hazards. With a height configuration of 1.54 inches, or lower 1/3 co-witness, it provides a comfortable sight picture, enhancing visibility for shooters by allowing a higher head position, which also improves compatibility with night vision equipment, ear protection, and other gear. Precision-milled 6061-T6 aluminium, this lightweight yet robust scope mount is engineered to endure rigorous use, equipped with recoil lugs to maintain zero even under heavy recoil. Additionally, the streamlined clamps minimise snagging risks and can be securely tightened using either a hex or flat-head screwdriver.
The Angry Gun ROF-90 mount serves as a drop-in enhancement for the Angry Gun AUS 34mm Scope Mounts, facilitating the attachment of an optic compatible with the Aimpoint ACRO footprint. This feature provides shooters with a swift transition from a magnified optic to a backup, non-magnified red dot sight, thereby enhancing options for close target engagements. The height profile of this adapter ensures comfortable aiming for users equipped with ear protection and other gear, as well as enabling passive aiming for night vision devices. The elevated profile of the optic allows for a more comfortable head position when aiming down sights, resulting in improved visibility and heightened situational awareness for the shooter.
